He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) in 1984. In his quest for knowledge journey, he has obtained other qualifications: Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management from the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. In addition, he obtained a MBA degree from the University of Hull with a final thesis focusing on Strategic Planning.

Kong Meng has been practicing in the consulting industry for more than eight years. Prior to that, he was involved in several regional business development and marketing assignments/projects, covering markets in India, China, Vietnam and other ASEAN countries in various managerial capacity. One of his milestone projects was in setting up and managing a joint venture company, responsible for marketing airline reservation systems and travel-related information services in the Indian sub-continent.

Kong Meng has substantial experience in conducting market study and research, which facilitated the marketing of a broad range of products and services in the ASEAN countries. In 1996, he led a research team to Australia to conduct a study of Halal/Muslim food market in Sydney and Melbourne. This study, which was initiated by a local chamber of commerce and funded by EDB, assisted the Muslim community in sourcing for quality halal food in Australia and other markets.

Currently, Kong Meng provides consulting assistance to SMEs/PLEs in strategic business planning, pre-IPO preparation, market development planning, human resource planning as well as franchise feasibility/development projects. The client-base of Kong Meng spans over different industries/segments: manufacturing, construction, professional services, engineering, retail, trading and regional investment firms.
