USING THE BALANCED SCORECARD AS A -PERFORMANCE
MANAGEMENT TOOL
Maximizing corporate performance through the Balanced Scorecard
INTRODUCTION
Traditional performance measurement focusing on external accounting data is
obsolete and inadequate in providing the information age enterprises with
efficient planning tools. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is a concept, which will
help you translate strategy into action. BSC, as a performance measurement tool,
starts from the company vision and strategies. From here critical success
factors are defined. Measures are constructed to assist target-setting and
performance measurement in areas critical to strategies.
With this approach, the performance measurement system reflects the most
important aspects of the business.
